Stainless steel laminate knives are extremely rust resistant due to the high carbon steel core sandwiched between layers of corrosion-resistant stainless steel. This high carbon steel centre gives an excellent easy-to-maintain edge, whilst the chromium-rich outer layers form a self-healing barrier that shields the blade's surface from moisture and oxygen.
